EngageJax is really an opportunity for you to learn what those changes are and how they come about, engage with who is working to make those changes, and most importantly, how you can act to make an even greater impact.
We share posts on a variety of topics, including leadership development, community vision, and opportunities to engage in the community. You’ll also get in-depth, fact-based views of important Jacksonville issues, overviews of JCCI programs, projects, and events, and details about what we’re reading and why. We'll also have an opportunity to ask some of our friends six questions - and share their answers.
We hope that you'll check back with us regularly. If you have suggestions on content, we'd love to hear it. If you have a comment or opinion on what you see here, we hope you’ll post it to our comments, and help us start meaningful discussions.
Name: Joshua Keyes
Role with JCCI: Intern
1. What do you do from 9-5?
I’m gathering data and compiling it in a way that people can view and understand in terms of what the importance of gathering the data actually is, essentially.
2. What do you do outside of work?
I’d say for the most part outside of work I love to travel to new exciting places and eat interesting foods in those places along with adventures. Not to mention exercise often along with enjoy the perks of being a college student at Jacksonville University.
3. How & when did you get involved with JCCI or JCCI Forward?
I’m in charge of professional development with the Jacksonville University Sociology Club and with regards to that we work heavily with the locals with creating awareness of specific issues within our community or just in general. JCCI worked with the club I’m apart of and so I became interested in what they did specifically within the community and once I had my professors explain how JCCI worked I was interested and decided to interview for an intern position and as you can now clearly see, I did get the internship.
4. What is your favorite hidden gem in Jacksonville?
My absolute favorite hidden gem is Club TSI downtown, but only on the nerd nights which are once a month, every month. I’m a huge Star Trek, D.C. Comics, and pretty much anything related to those sort of things fan.
5. What community issue is on your radar that doesn’t get enough attention right now?
Inequality is the issue that I feel doesn’t get enough attention.
6. Why is JCCI important to you and Jacksonville?
It is important to Jacksonville and myself, because I believe that knowledge is the key to change and success. JCCI can provide the data and knowledge to help change Jacksonville for the better and for the future.
